Position Description Summary
The Assistant Safety Manager will work with the contractor, LAWA inspection, the Project Management Team, and others in order to ensure assigned projects are implementing effective safety programs and meeting the requirements of the contract documents with regards to safety and security requirements.

 

Essential Job Duties
• Work with Contractor Safety Team, LAWA Inspection Team, Project Management Team, and others in order to ensure assigned projects are implementing effective safety programs.
• Walk all assigned projects daily and at times multiple times daily
• Review contractors' Daily Safety Reports to identify trending and consistency related to corrective actions
• Meet with LAWA Inspectors and other stakeholders regarding safety concerns and follow-up actions taken by the contractor
• Review written Safety Plans and verify results of safety performance and compliance in the field on an ongoing basis to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation
• Assist the Project/Construction Manager to verify , that contractors comply with written documentation requirements including weekly "toolbox" meetings, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, any accident/incident and related investigation reports, provision of "competent" or authorized persons documentation including training records and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
• Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Program Safety Manager to monitor the ongoing safety effort of the Construction Manager and contractor
• Attend and participate in Construction Safety Advisory Committee Meetings, as directed by the Program Safety Manager
•Attend and participate in the Monthly All-Hands Safety Meeting to discuss general program safety concerns and successes as well as present updates and information on safety regulations and requirements including a monthly training program component on relevant safety subject matter

•Coordinate with management to promote the proactive and behavior-based PDG Safety Program both internally and externally (e.g., National Safety Council, trade and professional organizations, etc.) and to bring positive publicity to the program and PDG

•Contribute to the advancement of Planning and Development Group's goals through a commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders•Writing and disseminating daily and or weekly safety reports for each assigned project as directed by the Program Safety Manager

•Maybe required to work night, weekend, multiple shifts, and work beyond regular hours as needed and directed by the PSM

•Provide orientation and training to LAWA staff, contractor employees, and others as assigned by the Program Safety Manager.

•Develop, coordinate, monitor participation, and administer the monthly PowerPoint training as directed by the PSM

•Develop, coordinate, and administer the LAWA PDG Orientation Program as directed by the PSM

•Write newsletter articles for PDG publication as directed by the PSM

•Develop, coordinate, and administer a safety recognition program as directed by the PSM

Field Engineer II

The Field Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical, field and administrative duties associated with construction management. In this instance, the Field Engineer will support the MSC Stakeholder Manager on Third-Party coordination, including internal LAWA stakeholders (Maintenance, Operations, Airport Police, Art Program, etc.) and external stakeholders (such as Airlines, CBP, Westfield, JCDecaux, etc.).

• BS in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management or related technical field.
• Must have 5 to 10 years of field engineering experience with three to five years directly supporting an active terminal construction
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, low voltage coordination
• Prolog and Primavera experience is highly desirable

 

Position Description Summary

Essential Job Duties
Act as LAX Planning and Development Group (PDG) representative with design-builder and stakeholders during program execution
• Assist the Stakeholder Manager and project team to ensure stakeholder involvement and coordination
• Ensure stakeholders are apprised of base building schedules and deliverables
• Coordinate with 3rd party stakeholders (such as concessionaires and airlines) on tenant core & shell build-out
• Manage tenant space turnover efforts and coordinate space turnover and move-in with building occupants
• Schedule and lead field meetings with stakeholder as needed
• Review project schedules to ensure milestones are tracking
• Manage issues related to tenant spaces that arise in the field
• Verify field construction conditions meet contract obligations and expectations
• Assist will the development of Tenant Design and Technical Criteria
• Review RFIs, Submittals, and schedules
• Issue directives (such as Change Directives, Field Directives, Task Orders)
• Investigate field conditions, review and process all requests for information (RFI), change directives CDs, submittals, contractor change requests, etc.
• Negotiate changes to the scope of work with design-builder as necessary
• Review and merit CPCNs, CCRs, RFTOs
• Coordinate and administer all construction related meetings including weekly progress meetings, pre-activity meetings, pre-construction meeting and all others as required (write and distribute minutes)

• Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule
• Work with other team members to follow budget, schedules, and plan for the all elements of a project
• Establish regular meetings to review project status and formulate action items
• Take project photos as required to document problem areas, or other pertinent locations where disputed items may occur
• Inspect construction operations and make recommendations to ensure that minimum quality control requirements are maintained
• Coordinate all construction contract correspondence
• Distribute documents and drawings to appropriate stakeholders and manage comments and feedback
• Coordinate the change order process, including providing draft documents, along with maintaining all project files
• Coordinate close out process including as-built drawings, punch list, technical manuals, warranties and other close out deliverables and documentation
